About Coaching
Is Heart-Centered Coaching Right for You?

Heart-centered coaching teaches clients how to tap into and follow the wisdom of their heart while using their minds to act upon the guidance they receive. There are new skills to be learned about how to use both heart and mind to their full potential. Practicing new ways of being allows you to more easily create the life you want and avoid the imbalance that plagues most of the human population.

Individual coaching helps you quickly progress to the next level
whatever that means to you. When the goal is reached, the coaching relationship may end, a new goal may be set immediately, or there may be a rest period of weeks, months, or years before the relationship resumes on an as-needed basis.

Defining the Coaching Relationship

The coaching process consists of a series of telephone conversations that provoke thought, action, and change. I coach by phone exclusively for a couple of important reasons: 1) By focusing on your voice alone, I can connect with you more deeplyat a heart level and sense subtle changes in your energy that reflect a truth your words and body language might deny. 2) A phone meeting also allows you to be comfortable in your own surroundings, or if you are like many of my busy clients, you can call from wherever you are in the world. The phone allows us to be together without expending the time and energy required to travel through the bumpy physical realm.

As a result of our conversations and the work you will do between calls, you can expect to:

  • Think, speak, and act more consciously.
  • Identify and replace destructive thought patterns.
  • Take more effective action.
  • Find healing through your most difficult relationships.
  • Stop tolerating excuses that get in your way.
  • Take your needs and wants more seriously.
  • Learn and practice skills to better manage yourself and others.
  • Dream bigger.
  • Break through limiting beliefs and behaviors.
  • Communicate in a more responsible way.

Although it is a very efficient process of change, coaching requires a commitment of time and effort. I recommend making a commitment to yourself to complete 12 sessions for the most efficient and effective path to growth. I have found that it takes this long to learn what changes are necessary and to make them a lasting part of your life. Another good reason to make coaching a consistent part of your life at first is because coaching offers a supportive, non-judgmental arm during the initial phases of change when those around you might be most resistant.

A Word on Style ...

Choosing a coach is a personal and important choice. Naturally, my style works better for some than others and I encourage all prospective clients to talk to several coaches to find their best fit.

I attract clients who value results
they are willing to take risks and work hard to achieve their personal and professional goals. I am intuitive, bold, and action-oriented. In the process of being myself, I often make challenging inquiries or observations that might lead to some initial discomfort. I consider it my job to help you go beyond where you might have gone on your own.

In addition to being upfront about how I like to work, I also try to assess our compatibility early in the relationship. When it appears to be in the best interest of the client, I offer references to highly-qualified therapists and/or coaching colleagues. Your thriving success is my only goal.

Sample Coaching Agreement

The service provided to INSERT YOUR NAME (client) by Sharon Roy (coach) is life coaching, as designed jointly with the client. Goals for the purposes of this agreement include, but are not limited to:  TO BE DETERMINED TOGETHER

A coaching relationship is not therapy, consulting, counseling, or friendship. Coaching is a unique discipline that moves you in new directions, toward your most authentic self. As your coach, I will remind you of who you are becoming until you can fully live it.

My style of coaching goes beyond helping you to create what you want in life; you’ll also discover new ways of being along the way. This expansive approach means that you will experience increased awareness, growth, and acceptance in all areas of life, not just those you choose to focus on in our coaching sessions.

My job as your coach is to ask you questions and to provide a safe space for you to connect with or even discover for the first time your own place of abundance, wisdom, and power. I create this space in a number of ways:

1)      I completely honor the confidentiality of whatever you share with me and promise to hold that confidentiality to the full extent that the law permits.

2)      I listen to you with childlike innocence, knowing that you are the world’s greatest expert on you. I refrain from offering advice until your own best answers have come forward.

3)      I help you to focus on what is working in your life. What we focus on expands.

4)      I am 100% engaged with you during our coaching conversations, connecting at a heart level to hear the essence behind your words. If I sense contradictions between what you say and the energy you project, I will boldly reflect this back to you. You are free to do whatever you like with this information, including telling me I am wrong or that you don’t want to discuss it.

5)      I acknowledge your magnificence often. Because opening to receive this kind of acknowledgment does not always come naturally to adults, please accept it as the gift that it is. Know that it always comes from my heart.
